Get Involved

What Can I do? First, you can make a difference.
Circle Of Support, Inc.Give as much of your time, expertise, experience and energy as you have to give. The young women and girls growing up through the Circle of Support program have a need to hear about the opportunities that the world has to offer, how to find those opportunities, and most importantly, how seize them.

The program, which provides for girls from elementary to high school graduation has a variety of needs, which volunteers can meet on a continual or one-time basis. You don't need to have a special skill to help. Your successful growth as a person in this community, whether career-bound or raising a family, you have something to offer.

Speaking Engagements
Young women in high school, including those near graduation, need to be exposed to many different career paths and educational avenues. Come to an after school session and speak with high schoolers about various college courses, how to navigate the gauntlet that is financial aid, how to get accepted to the college of their choice, and what kind of jobs and careers exist for women. Do you have a special skill or educational background that you could share?

Come and speak one time or on numerous occasions. A few examples of needs include:

  • Financial literacy
  • Career paths
  • Interviewing for jobs
  • Social behavior
  • Healthy lifestyles (medical, dietary, sexual, exercise)
  • Family care

Educational Opportunities
Can you teach? The Girl S.M.A.R.T. program keeps the girls fully engaged and focused on learning during the distracting summer months. The Girl S.M.A.R.T. program needs instructors for:

  • Science (Earth sciences, Social sciences, Physical sciences)
  • Math (Basic Math, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus)
  • Art (Graphic Art, Music)
  • Reading (Literature, Literacy, Writing)
  • Technology (Computer, Industry)
  • Non-traditional lessons (include sign language, foreign languages, performing arts,
    financial literacy)

This summer program also provides opportunities to play and learn sports and healthy lifestyle choices. The Girl S.M.A.R.T. program needs instructors or willing participants for:

  • Team sports (Coaching, organizing)
  • Individual sports (Coaching, organizing)
  • Exercise (Teaching, participating, organizing)
  • Nutrition (Teaching)

College and Life
During the school year, high school students have a special need for college preparation, from the basics of applying to college to the fundamentals of education. They also need assistance with various job skills, from applying and interviewing to keeping the job. The program in general needs instructors, tutors, or able and willing participants to assist in the following:

  • College applications (completing, compliance)
  • Applications (Understanding the value of and the technique in drafting a well-written essay
    or personal statement)
  • Financial aid, Grant and Scholarship applications
  • Choosing the right college
  • Choosing a major
  • Finishing college
  • Interviewing skills (what to say, how to act, how to dress)
  • Resume writing
