At its inception, the not-for-profit Circle of Support targeted girls in the Frazier Court Housing Development and its surrounding communities. In the summer of 2007, S.M.A.R.T. Boys (Science, Math, Art, Reading and Technology) was created to address the academic and enrichment needs of boys ages 6 to 12, from the Southern Dallas and surrounding community.
Having experienced exceptional results with Girl S.M.A.R.T., we have been able to create a program with similar goals but a distinctly different curriculum geared toward enhancing the lives of at-risk boys in the Southern Dallas community. Overall attendance for our program in 2009:
In addition, we have collaborated with organizations to offer summer enrichment and sports camp: Highland High School Soccer Camp, Highland High School Art Camp, Episcopal School of Dallas Girls All The Time Camp, Lacrosse Camp, Dallas Children’s Chorus, Earning By Learning Reading Institute, Dallas Arboretum Science Camp, Faz Two Football Camp, and African American Museum George Washington Camp.
- Our average daily attendance for girls was 181.
- Our average daily attendance for boys was 91.
- Our total daily attendance for girls and boys was 275.
